The same colour was used as a backing for the grenade badge when worn on headdress

When the regiment left 4 Corps in 1940 they obtained permission to wear the 4 Corps badge as a regimental badge
In 1944 the regiment gave valuable support to 1 Airborne Division at Arnhem. In recognition, Maj Gen Urquhart gave permission for the regiment to wear the Airborne Pegasus badge on the lower right sleeve of battledress

Regimental badge granted in 1945 for support of 2 New Zealand Division in Italy. Carried on the unit flag, it may also have been worn as an arm badge

On conversion the regiment continued to wear the blue bonnet with Scottish Horse cap badge
Officers wore Scottish Horse collar badges (smaller version of cap badge) and brass shoulder titles on service dress.
An embroidered title was worn on Battledress by Officers. Photos of other ranks show the standard Royal Artillery title.
Film shot in Europe in 1945 shows a patch of regimental tartan (Murray of Atholl) worn on the upper arm. Senior NCO’s wear the gun badge above the chevrons on the patch. Other ranks wear any trade or qualification badge on the patch also. These badges are the brass versions.





Insignia & Dress identical to 79 (Scottish Horse) Medium Regiment RA(TA) (see above).
It is unknown as yet if the 80th also wore the tartan patch.
