79 (Scottish Horse) Medium Regiment RA (TA) was formed from The Scottish Horse Yeomanry with two batteries in February 1940 at Welbeck, Worksop. The Regiment was placed into suspended animation in March 1946. 79 (Scottish Horse) Medium Regiment RA (TA) was reconstituted as The Scottish Horse, Royal Armoured Corps (TA) in January 1947.
