55 (Devon) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was formed as a duplicate of 51 (Devon) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, in 1939. It moved to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in March 1942 and then on to India the following year. The Regiment was converted to 55 Light Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Tank Regiment in July 1943 and re-designated 111 (Devon) Anti-Tank Regiment in September 1944. 55 (Devon) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was re-constituted as 852 (Devon) Tractor Battery RA (TA) in January 1947 but not re-formed.
