23 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was formed at Bristol, in December 1938. The Regiment moved to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in July 1942. Moving to India in April 1944, it was converted to 23 Parachute Light Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Tank Regiment in February 1945. 23 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) re-constituted as 523 (Gloucestershire) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
