Formed in February 1920 as 2 Home Counties Brigade Royal Field Artillery (TF). It became 58 (Home Counties) Brigade RFA (TF) in 1921. In June 1924 it changed designation again to 57 (Home Counties) Field Brigade RA (TA). The Regiment was re-designated 58 (Sussex) Field Regiment RA (TA) from 58 Field Brigade in November 1938 on a two battery basis. In January 1941 a third battery was raised. 58 (Sussex) Field Regiment RA (TA) converted to 84 Medium Regiment RA (TA) in December 1943. They went into suspended animation April 1946 and were re-constituted as 258 (Sussex) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
