The Regiment was re-organised in May 1938 from 2 Field Brigade RA to 2 Field Regiment RA. Originally 2 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, it changed to Royal Artillery in June 1924. In September 1939 it was organised on a two battery basis in the UK by combining the existing batteries. The Regiment re-organised as three batteries in January 1941. It served the entire war in support of 1 Infantry Division. 1 Division served with the British Expeditionary Force in France. It then spent nearly three years in the UK. After that, they moved to the Middle East in 1943. Post war, 2 Field Regiment RA was re-designated 41 Field Regiment RA in April 1947.
