The Regiment was re-designated in May 1938 from 1 Field Brigade to 1 Field Regiment RA. In September 1939, in India, it was organised on a two battery basis. The Regiment was re-organised with three batteries in October 1942. Post war 1 Field Regiment RA became 59 Field Regiment in April 1947.
