53 (Royal Northumberland Fusiliers) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 5th Battalion The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (53 Searchlight Regiment) (TA) to the RA. The Regiment was converted to 638 Infantry Regiment RA in January 1945. It was re-constituted as 588 (Royal Northumberland Fusiliers) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
