46 (The Lincolnshire Regiment) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 46 (The Lincolnshire Regiment) Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command until late 1944 when it became Garrison troops. 46 (The Lincolnshire Regiment) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) was converted to 46 Garrison Regiment RA in November 1944 and re-designated as 606 Infantry Regiment RA in February 1945. It was re-constituted as 581 (5th Battalion The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment) (Mixed) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
