49 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was formed from 84 Battery ex 44 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, in July 1940. The Regiment served in Air Defence Great Britain until July 1942. It then became the Divisional LAA Regiment in 78 Infantry Division. It moved to North Africa in November 1942, and fought through Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. 49 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was disbanded in January 1945.
