3rd Battalion The London Scottish (97 Anti-Aircraft Regiment) (TA) was formed by conversion in April 1939, although remaining part of The Gordon Highlanders. It was embodied as 97 Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in September 1939, and re-designated as 97 (London Scottish) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in June 1940. In January 1942 it adopted the title of “The London Scottish” and just “London Scottish” by the March. The Regiment was converted to 97 Garrison Regiment RA in November 1944 going to suspended animation in November 1945. 97 (London Scottish) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was reconstituted as 497 (London) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
