89 (3rd West Lancashire) Field Brigade RA (TA) was converted to 70 (3rd West Lancashire) Anti-Aircraft Brigade RA (TA) in October 1937. It was re-designated as 70 (3rd West Lancashire) Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1939 and became Heavy Anti-Aircraft in June 1940. 70 (3rd West Lancashire) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was converted to 70 (3rd West Lancashire) Medium Battery in August 1944. The Battery was part of “C” later 87 Medium Regiment RA. The Battery was placed in suspended animation and was reconstituted as 470 (3rd West Lancashire) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
