The unit was converted from West Somerset Yeomanry (TF) in June 1920. It formed 1 (Somerset) Army Brigade Royal Field Artillery (TF). The Brigade was re-designated as 94 (Somerset Yeomanry) Brigade RFA (TA) in 1921. In January 1922 the Dorset Yeomanry (Queen’s Own) (TA) was converted to form part of HQ and two batteries of 94 (Somerset & Dorset Yeomanry) Brigade RFA (TA). The Brigade changed title again in June 1924 becoming 94 (Somerset & Dorset Yeomanry) (Army) Field Brigade RA (TA). In July 1929 it re-organised as 94 (Queen’s Own Dorset Yeomanry) Army Field Brigade RA (TA). The Regiment was re-designated 94 (Queens Own Dorset Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA) from 94 Field Brigade in November 1938 on a two battery basis. A third battery was raised in February 1941. 94 (Queens Own Dorset Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA) was placed in suspended animation in June 1946 and reconstituted in January 1947 as 294 (Queens Own Dorset Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA).
