The Regiment was organised on a two battery basis in March 1938. It was then re-designated 7 Field Regiment RA from 7 Field Brigade in May 1938. Prior to this, the Regiment had become 7 Brigade Royal Field Artillery, in November 1922. The Regiment was re-organised in February 1941 as three batteries. The Regiment served the whole of the war with 3 Infantry Division. Post war 7 Field Regiment RA became 17 Training Regiment RA in April 1947.
