Formed as 1 Home Counties Brigade Royal Field Artillery (TF) in February 1920. It became 57 (Home Counties) Brigade RFA (TA) in 1921. It changed title again in June 1924 becoming 57 (Home Counties) Field Brigade RA (TA). 57 (Home Counties) Field Regiment RA (TA) was re-designated from 57 Field Brigade in November 1938 on a two battery basis. A third battery was raised in February 1941. 57 (Home Counties) Field Regiment RA (TA) was placed into suspended animation in February 1946 and reconstituted as 257 (Home Counties) Field Regiment RA(TA) in January 1947.
