Formed in 1900 as 33 Brigade-Division RFA, it became 33 Brigade Royal Field Artillery in 1903. It was re-designated 22 Brigade Royal Field Artillery in November 1922. Another change came in June 1924 when it became 22 Field Brigade RA. 22 Field Regiment RA was re-designated from 22 Field Brigade in May 1938 on a two battery basis. It re-organised as three batteries in November 1940. Post war 22 Field Regiment RA became 31 Training Regiment RA in April 1947.
