19 Brigade Royal Field Artillery was formed in 1900. It became 19 Field Brigade RA in June 1924 after the amalgamation of the Royal Field Artillery and the Royal Garrison Artillery in to the Royal Artillery. 19 Field Regiment RA was re-designated from 19 Field Brigade RA in May 1938 on a two battery basis. It re-organised as three batteries in January 1941. Post war the Regiment was re-designated 48 Field Regiment RA in April 1947. At the same time, 17 Field Regiment RA was re-designated 19 Field Regiment RA.
The present day 19 Field therefore takes its lineage from 17 Field Regiment and not the wartime 19th.
