185 Field Regiment RA was formed mainly from personnel in 49 Infantry Division. It formed in December 1942 at Penclawdd Camp near Swansea with three batteries. The Regiment served with 49 Infantry Division until November 1944 when it came under 2 Army. After 18 months of intensive training in the UK, it moved to France on 12 June 1944. 185 Field Regiment RA was disbanded in January 1945.
