183 Field Regiment RA was formed mainly from 10 Battalion South Staffordshire Regiment in March 1942 with three batteries. It moved to North Africa in June 1943. 183 Field Regiment RA was converted to 61 Heavy Regiment in November 1943 in North Africa.
