181 Field Regiment RA was formed mainly from 6 Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry in March 1942 at Melton Mowbray with three batteries. It spent its entire service with 15 (Scottish) Infantry Division. 181 Field Regiment RA was disbanded in January 1946 in NW Europe.
