178 Field Regiment RA

178 Field Regiment RA was formed in January 1942 at Scarne Cross Camp with three batteries. In May 1942 the Regiment was assigned to 49 Infantry Division in Western Command. They went to India inJune 1943. The Regiment was re-designated as an Assault Field Regiment RA in August 1943. In January 1944 178 Regiment was involved in the 2nd Arakan Offensive, Burma. It was disbanded in November 1946.
