156 (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA) was formed in April 1940 with two batteries as a duplicate of 155 (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA). A third battery was formed in January 1941. In July 1942 it moved to the Middle East and joined 5 Infantry Division. It served with the Division throughout the remainder of the war. It saw service in North Africa, Scicily, Italy and North West Europe. Post war the Regiment went into suspended animation in December 1945. 156 (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment RA (TA) was disbanded in January 1947.
