144 (Surrey & Sussex Yeomanry, Queen Mary’s) Field Regiment RA (TA) was formed as a duplicate of 98 Field Regiment in June 1939 with two batteries . In December 1942 a third battery was formed in Iraq. The Regiment went into suspended animation in September 1945. 144 (Surrey & Sussex Yeomanry, Queen Mary’s) Field Regiment RA (TA) was re-constituted as 344 (Sussex Yeomanry) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
