11 Field Regiment RA

The Regiment was re-designated, in India, as 11 Field Regiment RA from 11 Field Brigade in May 1938. Prior to this, it was raised as 9 Brigade Royal Field Artillery in 1900. 9 Brigade changed its designation in June 1924 from Royal Field Artillery to Royal Artillery. It re-organised on a two battery basis in August 1941 by linking the four existing batteries. In July 1943 it re-organised as three batteries. From October 1942 it served entirely with 4 Indian Division. This took them from Alamein through Syria and Italy. They ended their war going to Greece in November 1944. Post war, 11 Field Regiment RA became 81 Field Regiment RA in April 1947.
