6 Coast Regiment RA was formed by re-designation of 6 Heavy Regiment in Ceylon in December 1940. The Diamond Hill, Elephant and Fort Frederick works became the three Coast Batteries. The Regiment was re-designated as 1 Ceylon Coast Regiment in April 1947.
