79 Anti-Tank Regiment RA was formed in India with three batteries in October 1941. In May 1942, RHQ was redesignated RHQ “X” Field Regiment becoming 164 Field Regiment the following month. The Regiment was re-formed in the Middle East in June 1942 with the original batteries. 79 Anti-Tank Regiment RA was disbanded in March 1946.
