76 Anti-Tank Regiment RA was formed at Godalming in November 1940 from RHQ, 237 and 239 Batteries of 101 Light Anti-Aircraft/Anti-Tank Regiment. A third Battery was raised at the same time from a cadre of the two existing batteries and 136 Infantry Machine Gun personnel. After re-fitting, the Regiment sailed for Egypt in September 1941. In April 1944 76 Anti-Tank Regiment RA was re-designated 60 Anti-Tank Regiment RA (TA).
