72 (Middlesex) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in November 1938 with three batteries. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command for the entire war. It was placed in suspended animation in September 1944 at Reepham, Norfolk although it was still in existence in January 1945. It finally went into suspended animation in June 1945. 72 (Middlesex) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) was re-constituted as 607 (Middlesex) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947 and re-designated as 607 (Middlesex) (Mixed) Light Anti-Aircraft/Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) in March 1949.
