61 (South Lancashire Regiment) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 5th Battalion The South Lancashire Regiment (57 Searchlight Regiment) (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command until conversion to a Garrison unit. 61 (South Lancashire Regiment) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) was converted to 61 Garrison Regiment in November 1944 and to 612 Infantry Regiment RA in February 1945. It was re-constituted as 596 (South Lancashire Regiment) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
