42 (The Robin Hoods, Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 42 (The Robin Hoods, Sherwood Foresters) Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command before going to Belgium in September 1944. It later moved into Germany. 42 (The Robin Hoods, Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) was placed in suspended animation in March 1946 and was re-constituted as 577 (The Robin Hoods, Sherwood Foresters) (Mixed) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
