37 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 37 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command for the entire war in South West England, South Wales and East Anglia. 37 (Tyne Electrical Engineers) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) went into suspended animation and was reformed as 119 Searchlight Regiment RA, a war formed unit in April 1947. The original TA unit was re-constituted as HQ 104 (Tyne) Army Engineer Regiment RE (TA) in January 1947.
