30 (Surrey) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA)

30 (Surrey) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 30 (Surrey) Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in AA Command until August 1942. It then prepared for and went to Algeria with 1 Army. It moved to Italy in September 1943 with 8 Army. 30 (Surrey) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) went into suspended animation in December 1943 and was re-constituted as 565 (Surrey) (Mixed) Light Anti-Aircraft/Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
