1 Coast Regiment Royal Malta Artillery was formed by the re-designation of 1 Heavy Regiment RMA. This occurred because in December 1940 all Heavy Regiments and Batteries were re-designated as “Coast”. The Regiment was converted to 1 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RMA in June 1956.
