1 Medium Brigade was re-designated 1 Medium Regiment RA in May 1938 with two batteries. The Regiment fought in France with the BEF in 1940. It moved to India in December 1942 serving there and Burma until the end of the war. In March 1947 the Regiment was reduced to a cadre. The following month 1 Medium Regiment RA was re-designated as 51 Coast Regiment RA.
