171 Heavy Regiment RA was converted from a cadre from RHQ 171 Field Regiment RA in February 1945 at Bexhill. All batteries were then disbanded and in May 1945, RHQ re-formed as 171 Field Regiment RA. The Regiment was disbanded in January 1946.
