83 (7th (Blythswood) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry) Anti-Aircraft Brigade RA(TA) was formed in November 1938 by conversion of 7th (Blythswood) Battalion The Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment) (TA). It was re-designated from a Brigade to an Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA(TA) in January 1939. In July 1939 it was re-titled 83 (Blythswood) Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA(TA) and in June 1940 it was re-designated as Heavy Anti-Aircraft. The Regiment was placed in suspended animation in September 1944 and reconstituted as 483 (Blythswood) (M) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA(TA) in January 1947.
