73 Anti-Aircraft Brigade RA (TA) was formed in October 1937 by the conversion of part of 62 (North Midland) Field Brigade RA (TA). It was re-designated as 73 Anti-Aircraft Regiment in January 1939. In June 1940 it became 73 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA). The Regiment Served with the BEF in France in 1939. On return it was part of Anti-Aircraft Command, moving to the Middle East in April 1942. It then moved to Sicily and Italy. 73 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was placed in suspended animation in March 1945 and was reconstituted as 473 (North Midland) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
