62 (North Midland) Field Brigade RA (TA) was converted in December 1936 as 68 (North Midland) Anti-Aircraft Brigade RA (TA). It was re-designated as 68 (North Midland) Anti-Aircraft Regiment in January 1939. It became 68 (North Midland) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in June 1940. The Regiment was reduced to a cadre in September 1942 and reconstituted in June 1943. 68 (North Midland) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was placed in suspended animation in January 1947, personnel to form a new War Formed unit with the same number. The Regiment was re-organised and re-designated as 36 Coast Artillery/Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA in April 1947. The TA Regiment was reconstituted as 262 (North Midland) (M) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
