57 (Wessex) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) was re-designated as 57 (Wessex) Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) from 57 (Wessex) Anti-Aircraft Brigade RA (TA) in January 1939. It was re-designated as Heavy Anti-Aircraft in June 1940. The Regiment was placed in suspended animation in January 1946 and re-formed as a cadre the following month. It was re-formed as a War Formed Regiment and designated 74 Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA in April 1947. The TA unit, 57 (Wessex) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) reconstituted as 457 (Wessex) (M) Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
