76 Anti-Aircraft Brigade was formed on the 1st December 1942 at Blandford, Dorset. It came under Home Forces and was training for overseas service. In June 1943 it moved to Knutsford, Cheshire. In January 1944 it came under command of 80 AA Brigade in preparation for the Normandy invasion and moved to Thorpe Bay, Essex. On D Day elements of the Brigade began landing on Gold Beach and by the 25th June 76 Anti-Aircraft Brigade was complete.
When the breakout from the beachhead took place in August, the Brigade moved to cover Dieppe and Amiens. In mid October they moved to the defence of Antwerp but their allotted area was still occupied by the enemy. They supported 2 Canadian Corps in clearing the south side of the Scheldt. It then took up positions on Walcheren and South Beveland. When the war ended the Brigade moved in to Germany on occupation duties. 76 Anti-Aircraft Brigade was disbanded in April 1946.
