25 pdr Bishop

The 25 pdr Gun Self Propelled Bishop was officially known as Ordnance QF 25 pdr Marks 2 or 3 on Carrier Valentine 25 pdr Gun Mark 1. It consisted of a Valentine tank with the turret removed and replaced with an armoured box containing a 25 pdr gun and a modified top carriage. 100 were ordered in October 1941 and arrived in North Africa in early 1942. They served in North Africa, Sicily and the early part of the Italian campaign until replaced by the M7 Priest. The 25 pdr Gun Self Propelled Bishop was declared obsolete in November 1944.
