40 (The Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA)

40 (The Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) formed in August 1940 by the transfer of 40 (The Sherwood Foresters) Anti-Aircraft Battalion Royal Engineers (TA) to the RA. The Regiment served in Anti-Aircraft Command until conversion in mid 1943. Based in Lincolnshire, it moved to Northern Ireland just before becoming a Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. 40 (The Sherwood Foresters) Searchlight Regiment RA (TA) was converted to 149 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA in June 1943. It was re-constituted as 575 (6th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters)  Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment RA (TA) in January 1947.
